Charlie Rose

EditorialI've been receiving messages from journalist friends asking if we were going to cover the Charlie Rose story from our unique, local, perspective on Bellport.com. Here's our answer.

In the 45+ years that we've lived here, it's been understood in town that the "heavy hitters" we all know and who live here, are here for privacy and normalcy. If you run into them at the deli or Lowes, you say, "Hi, how are you?" rather than, "Can I have your autograph?"

I'm sure you've heard Bellporters proudly refer to Bellport as the "Un-Hamptons." People come here to be left alone and not have to be "on" all the time. It's for that reason that Bellport.com is not going to follow this story. We're going to let Bellport residents have their privacy. We're going to leave them alone.

If you have a comment and would like to respond to any of the above, we'd be glad to consider printing your response. Please send your comments to larry@bellport.com. You can read the comments we receive on our Letters To The Editor page.

Sincerely,

Larry Sribnick
