Beach Ball

The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area hosted their 14th annual Beach Ball event on Saturday, June 24th at the Bellport home of Pamela and Bob Rosenberg. The magical night included dinner, dancing, and a live auction. Sunny Hostin, Co-Host, The View, hosted the event and DJ Louis XIV provided the entertainment. All proceeds from the Beach Ball event contribute to the operating expenses of the Boys & Girls Clubhouse and ensure that over 850 youth, ages 5 through 19, have a safe place to learn, grow and most importantly, feel a sense of belonging and community.

Photos from the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area's Kwanzaa Celebration

Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is a celebration of Family, Community, and Culture by the African American community. It was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, a professor of Africana Studies, and consists of seven days of celebration, December 26th – January 1st, culminating in a feast and gift giving. Each of the seven days represents one of the “pillars” of the holiday; Cooperative Economics, Faith, Unity, Creativity, Self Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, and Purpose.

This year, on December 27th, Kwanzaa was celebrated at the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area. There was singing and dancing, great food, a raffle, but most of all, the evening focused on the meaning of Kwanzaa for all of those who attended. It was a wonderful celebration that, if at all possible, you shouldn’t miss next year.

Beach Ball

On Saturday, June 20th, the 12th Annual Beach Ball was held to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport area. All of the proceeds from the Beach Ball went towards the operating expenses of the Boys & Girls Clubhouse and ensure that over 700 children, ages 5 through 19, have a safe place to learn, grow, and most importantly, feel a sense of belonging and community.

Like last year, this year’s Beach Ball was held at the home of Alexandra Lebenthal and Jay Diamond in Bellport. The evening featured “The Most Outrageous Auction and Party” with great food, music, and “The Art of Summer.” In spite of the rainy weather, the evening was a huge success thanks to the huge tent, with transparent center section, that was erected for the Ball. All of the many sponsors and volunteers should feel really good about what they accomplished again this year for the benefit of the children at the Boys & Girls Club. Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House

Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area

On Tuesday, August 14, 2012, the Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area held their official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House for the community. In attendance were our local elected officials along with the staff of the new facility and many of the children who will benefit from this wonderful new addition to our community.

This $5,000,000 facility is fully paid for and was built with funds donated by some very special individuals and groups who recognize the impact this new building and its programs will have on the children of our area. They can’t be thanked enough.
Rather than go on and on, we’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Please Click Here

About Our Club

The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area offers young people what they need and want most—adults who inspire, respect and listen to them, a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; find interesting, constructive activities that support the work of parents and schools, and channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits. Our youth development strategy employs caring, trained, professionals and tested programs to foster a sense of belonging and individual growth to build self-confidence and self-esteem.

Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances in the Bellport Area and increasingly from the South Shore, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area currently serves more than 700 members and many other youths are served by participating in activities annually. The Club is at the forefront of youth development, working with young people in six core areas: Personal & Educational Development, Citizenship & Leadership Development, Cultural Enrichment, Health & Physical Education, Social Recreation, and Outdoor & Environmental Education.

Our program hours are 2:00pm-9:00pm, Monday - Friday and 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday. Administrative hours are 9:30am-5:00pm, Monday - Friday. The Clubhouse provides a “safe place” for children and youth between the ages of 5 and 19 to gather. A caring and dedicated staff are carefully screened and professionally trained in Boys & Girls Clubs programming which includes Goals for Graduation, Passport to Manhood, Music Makers, Open Gym, School Age Child Care Program (SACC), Sculpture Art, Youth Court, SMART Girls and so much more!

If you are interested in making an investment in our youth by volunteering your time or making a financial contribution, please visit us online at www.bgcbellport.org, or contact Diane Ferraro at 631-286-9090. We would love to hear from you!
