BBHS The Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society Benefit: "Cavafy: Passions and Ancient Days"Saturday, June 5th
This year, the major benefit event for the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society is "CAVAFY: Passions and Ancient Days," a theatrical event conceived and performed by the Emmy Award winning actor, Yannis Simonides, and based on the life and work of Constantine Cavafy (1863-1933), the great Greek poet who was born and lived in Alexandria, Egypt. This event will take place on Saturday, June 5th. Tickets are $100 and include a cocktail party featuring Greek savories after the performance at the historical society’s Brown Building, where the audience can meet Mr. Simonides. Candidate Bellport Village Elections Update June 8th and 9th
Tuesday, June 8th will be the last day for the Village Clerk to accept applications for absentee ballots in the upcoming June 15th Bellport Village Elections. Wednesday, June 9th will be the last day for the Village Clerk to mail absentee ballots to qualified voters. Click here for more information.

2U U2 Tribute Band, "2U," In Concert- Saturday, June 12th
The South Country Library’s Second Annual Spring Outdoor Concert will feature the popular U2 tribute band, “2U” on Saturday, June 12th at 2:00pm in the Library’s parking lot. The band has toured the world and received praise and acclaim for their stunning, detailed replication of the U2 live experience. 2U’s song list includes the hits, “With or Without You,” “One,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” “Beautiful Day,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “New Year’s Day,” “Vertigo,” “Mysterious Ways,” “Gloria,” “Even Better Than the Real Thing,” as well as many other fan-favorites and lesser-known songs. A portion of the Library parking lot will be blocked off for the day and a limited number of chairs will be available so you are encouraged to bring your own chairs or blankets. Boating with the Baymen / An Environmentally Focused Family Tour of the Great South Bay. Sailing on the Lauren Kristy, a turn of the century style riverboat, this extraordinary experience is a great way to learn about the present environmental condition of the bay and of the traditions of the local baymen, commercial fishermen and boat builders who have made a living from the bay for generations. Places for only 110 people; each adult must be accompanied by an child. Adults- $45, children under 13- free of charge, children 14-18- $20. Reservations are required. Street Garden Bellport Garden Club Street Garden Applications Due TodayTuesday, June 15th
Do you have a street garden? A street garden is a large or small garden of living plants close to the curb primarily for the pleasure of neighbors or passers by. The Bellport Garden Club invites all residents of the South Country School District to create and maintain such a garden or enter an existing garden in their Street Garden Recognition Program. The Garden Club awards plaques to gardeners who apply and maintain a viewable garden. These plaques may be seen as you drive through the streets of our neighborhoods. The plaques will be awarded at the end of June and will be on view all summer.  Click here for more information.

Garden Tour Bellport Garden Club Garden Tour and Horticulture Show- Saturday, June 19th
The Bellport Garden Club 2010 Garden Tour is titled "take a Leisurely Stroll." The focus is beauty as benefited by conservation as all of the gardens are within a short walking distance of one another thus alleviating driving and parking at our various destinations. The Tour will be held on June 19th from 1:00pm–5:00pm. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 for 2 people together. All are welcome. Beach Ball The Boys & Girls Club Of The Bellport Area's Annual "Beach Ball" Fundraiser - Saturday, June 26th
Held at the beginning of the summer season, the Beach Ball is a highly anticipated reunion of some of the most significant influencers in the region, from politicians to media and fashion celebrities. This year’s event has the jazzy theme of “Down on the Bayou" and will feature Louisiana Cajun cuisine, a fabulous live and silent auction, and dancing. Literacy Suffolk Literacy Volunteer Q&ATuesday, June 29th
Literacy Suffolk, Inc. is seeking volunteers to provide free tutoring to adults in our community who need help learning to read, write, and/or speak in English. A 15-hour tutor training workshop is required. To find out more about volunteering, please attend a free informational Q&A, "Is Tutoring for You?," on Tuesday, June 29th at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System building, 627 N. Sunrise Service Road, Bellport. The 15-hour training workshops will be held on July 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th and 27th from 9:30am-12:30pm on all dates. Attendance at all sessions is required. The hugely popular summer "Yoga On The Bay" program is back for another year. This is one of the largest outdoor art shows on Long Island and draws artists from all over the country. Clipper Classic Bellport Clipper Classic - Sunday, July 11th
Every summer, Bellport holds the "Clipper Classic" 5K Run and 1500 Fun Walk through the Village. The race starts at the Gateway Theatre, loops through the Village, and finishes at the Marina. With over 400 runners and dozens of walkers, this race is a huge event that is not to be missed! The 2010 Bellport Clipper Classic Race will be held on Sunday, July 11th. The South Country Education Foundation is excited to announce the return of the summer art program, The Experience of Art, after a successful launch in 2009. Running the first week of August, the program will feature artists who will work with the students in exploring different art mediums and techniques each day. Weak Willed  Weak Willed And Easily Led To Perform In Bellport - Saturday, August 7th
If you like acoustic traditional and folk music, the Stones, Beatles, and Dylan, the sound of three and four part harmony and a 12 string guitar, you’ll love the music of Weak Willed And Easily Led.

Fresh from their performance at the LIVS Festival in East Hampton, Weak Willed And Easily Led will be performing this coming Saturday, August 7th, in the gazebo across the street from the Community Center on Bell Street in Bellport Village starting at 2pm.

As you can tell from the group’s name, they don’t take themselves too seriously. They have fun playing and they want their audience to have fun listening. So, grab your folding chair or blanket and head on down to the gazebo at 2pm on Saturday!

Bellport Village will hold a Centennial Celebration on Saturday, August 7th. Festivities are planned all day long downtown, at the Marina, and at the beaches. A parade will kick off the celebration beginning at 11:00am at the Bellport Fire Dept and ending at the Village Marina.

Garbage Schedule Bellport Village Garbage Schedule Changes- September 6th-8th
In observance of Labor Day, the garbage pick-up schedule for Village of Bellport residents will change this week. Garbage normally scheduled to be picked up on Monday, September 6th will be picked up on Tuesday, September 7th. Garbage normally scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday, September 7th will be picked up on Wednesday, September 8th. Click here for more information.
