The Library’s Second Annual Spring Outdoor Concert will feature the popular

for their stunning, detailed replication of the U2 live experience. 2U’s

Sunday,” “Beautiful Day,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “New

limited number of chairs will be available so you are encouraged to bring
your own chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the show will be moved to the
program rooms inside of the Library.
Author, Therone Shellman Speaks

On Wednesday, May 12th, Author, Therone Shellman spoke about his newest
book, “Survivor: I changed the rules, part 1” at the South Country Library.
His autobiography is about surviving impossibilities and in the end,
dictating and defining your own reality.
As
a product of a broken home, throughout his youth, Mr. Shellman moved in a
world of crime and violence which landed him in prison. Mr. Shellman
persevered and not only survived, but transformed himself. With those
present, Mr. Shellman discussed his journey from a tough beginning to his
current life as a successful author and a positive voice for today’s youth.

light gardening tasks that need to be taken care of between regular
landscaper visits. If you would like to help with these tasks, call the
Library Director, Mary Haines, at 286-0818 to put your name on a list of
occasional volunteers. We will call you when we need some extra help.
Remember to bring gloves and small gardening tools.

On Our Website: History Resource Center
Students, teachers,
and historians can now find U.S historical materials from pre-colonial
times to the present, as well as world history materials in the History
Resource Center (U.S. and World) in the Virtual Reference Collection (VRC)
on our website. All searches group results into Reference Materials,
Periodical, Primary Sources, and Maps and Multimedia, as well as related
subjects.
You can search by
Subject to find information by topic, or search by Person to find a
person or category of people. On the Person Search page you can enter a
complete name or parts of a name, a nationality, ethnicity, profession,
birth or death year , or birth or death place. There is a Chronology
feature in the History Resource Center: U.S. which is intended to
highlight the major events that shaped the United States.
To access the
History Resource Center information go to:
South Country
Library homepage, select the "VRC & Databases," then select "VRC," then
"History," then "History Resource Center: U.S. or World." To access this
database from home, you will need a Library PIN#. Ask at the Reference
Desk for more information.
The
Suffolk Historic Newspapers collection is now available on the South
Country Library website. Four local historic newspapers have been
