Ever since the Village made the innovative purchase of the Whalehouse Point, our Village-owned ferry has enjoyed tremendous popularity. Moored at the Village Marina, the ferry starts its "runs-for-summer-fun" over to "Ho-Hum" Beach beginning Saturday, May 28th, Memorial Day weekend, and then operates on a "weekend schedule only" until the close of schools in late June.  Starting June 30th, the Whalehouse Point ferries anxious beachgoers to and from Ho Hum Beach, seven days a week weather permitting. Labor Day weekend usually brings the "full week" ferry season to a halt. However, again weather cooperating, weekend trips may be scheduled after Labor Day.

Summer Ferry Schedule

May 24, 2008 - June 29, 2008 (Saturdays and Sundays ONLY).

June 30, 2008 - September 1, 2008 (Seven Days a Week)

*The 6:00pm and 6:30pm ferries will start on July 7, 2008. The 6:30pm ferry is the last ferry of the day returning to Bellport Marina.

 

After Labor Day, weekend ferries to Ho-Hum beach may be scheduled if the weather permits.

The Village may opt to revise this schedule in order to accommodate passengers waiting to board the ferry.  Please check with the Dockmaster at 631-286-6093 regarding any schedule changes.

Did You Know That "You" Can Rent The Ferry?

With a maximum capacity of 45 persons, the Whalehouse Point is also available for "very affordable" scenic cruises of the Great South Bay. To reserve the ferry for your "very own" private charter, please contact the Village Hall at 631-286-0327.

Individual Round Trip Fares
Individual round trip fares can be purchased at the Bellport Village dock prior to the departure of the ferry and must be used on the day that they are purchased. "One-way Fares" are not available. Residents "walking on" the ferry from Ho-Hum beach must pay half fare.

Weekday Round Trip Fares-
Residents- $8.00
Guests of residents- $13.00 (Residents must accompany their guests to the ferry, as fares must be paid for by village residents.)
Resident Children 12 years old or under- $4.00
Seniors (62 years of age and older)- $5.50

Midweek Ferry Special Fares-
Tuesdays: $6.00 roundtrip fare for teenagers
Wednesdays: $6.00 roundtrip fare for all residents
Thursdays: $6.00 roundtrip fare for each family member cruising to the beach for collective "family fun"

Weekend and Holiday Fares-
Residents- $9.00
Guests of residents- $15.00 (Residents must accompany their guests to the ferry, as fares must be paid for by village residents.)
Resident Children 12 years old or under- $5.00
Seniors (62 years of age and older)- $6.50

Season Permits
Season Permits are available for ferry use from May until September. Season permits are only available for residents. They may be purchased at the Village Hall on weekdays between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

Family Season Permits- $375.00. Family season permits are available for a resident couple and up to three children under 18 years of age. A $75.00 charge will be added for each additional child under the age of 18 in the family.

Adult Season Permits- $225.00. Adult season permits are available to residents 18 years of age or older.

Youth Season Permits- $135.00. Youth season permits are available to residents ages 3 to 17. Children under the age of three ride for free. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
