"Artists On The Lane" is the annual July 4th Art
Show produced by the South Bay Art
Association. This is one of the largest outdoor art shows on Long Island
and draws artists from all over the country. The show is devoted to fine
art, displayed along the sidewalks of lovely Bellport Lane, all the way
down to the Bay. The weather is almost always cooperative, and many
other Holiday festivities are also scheduled for this National Holiday.
The Bellport Garden Club offers delicious
refreshments: homemade quiches and sandwiches, baked goods and
beverages. Refreshments are available on the grounds of the Bellport
Historical Society, which is also located on Bellport Lane.
The Show begins at noon, and a Raffle of Fine Art is held at 4 pm at the
Village Hall- tickets are sold throughout the day and several lucky
winners receive a piece of original fine art that has been donated by
our local artists. Proceeds of the raffle sales benefit South Bay Art
Association's Student Scholarship Fund. Come on down for a great day of Art and America on
the Fourth of July in Bellport!
The SBAA Does It Again! Artists On The Lane 2008
Artists
On The Lane is one of the largest outdoor art shows on Long Island and
draws artists from all over the country. The show is devoted to fine
art, displayed along the sidewalks of Bellport Lane, all the way down to
the Bay.
The weather was overcast on July 4th, but the rain held off and everyone
had a wonderful time.
Tom
D'Angelis, President of the SBAA, couldn't have been happier with the
turnout and the quality of the artwork being shown.
Porters,
the great new restaurant in town at the head of Bellport Lane, was
hopping all day long.
We'll
bet you didn't know that Jimmy Vaughan is a great wildlife photographer!
How about sending some of your work into Bellport.com Jimmy so that we
can share it with everyone???
Everywhere
you looked there were pieces of art from very small to very large. There
was something to fit everyone's budget.
Carla
Marla's Ice Cream Parlor was the perfect place to stop for an ice cream
cone and a few minutes of rest before you continued "the hunt!"
Kathryn
Herzy has been exhibiting her great watercolor artwork at Artists On The
Lane for 30 years! Tom D'Angelis introduced us to Kathryn and we left
with one of her wonder Great South Bay Scooter watercolors.
As
usual, the Garden Club was selling lunch and
drinks to the visitors to Artists On The Lane.
The Garden Club has the permission of the
Historical Society to set up on their grounds. All of the money made
from the sale of food goes into the Beautification Fund which buys trees
for the Village of Bellport. Everyone enjoys a few
minutes break to relax and enjoy a bite.
The
Garden Club helped out again this year, as they always do, and had
examples of their accomplishments available for sale.
