About Our Club...
The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area offers
young people what they need and want most—adults who inspire, respect
and listen to them, a safe environment where they can have fun and be
themselves; find interesting, constructive activities that support the
work of parents and schools, and channel youthful energy into
challenging pursuits. Our youth development strategy employs caring,
trained, professionals and tested programs to foster a sense of
belonging and individual growth to build self-confidence and
self-esteem.
Our mission is to inspire and enable all young
people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances in the
Bellport Area and increasingly from the South Shore, to realize their
full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area
currently serves more than 800 members and many other youths
are served by participating in activities annually. The Club is at the
forefront of youth development, working with young people in six core
areas: Personal & Educational Development, Citizenship & Leadership
Development, Cultural Enrichment, Health & Physical Education, Social
Recreation, and Outdoor & Environmental Education.
The Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area has two additional units in
addition to our Clubhouse located at 471 Atlantic Avenue. Open Monday
through Friday, from 9 am until 9 pm, the Clubhouse provides a “safe
place” for children and youth between the ages of 5 and 20 to gather. A
caring and dedicated staff of eight (8) full-time professional employees and thirteen (13) part-time
employees are carefully screened and professionally trained in BGC
programming which includes SMART Girls, Power Hour, After School
Programs, Keystone Club, Youth Court and a Drop-in Lounge.
If you are interested in making an investment in our
youth by volunteering your time or making a financial contribution,
please visit us online at

Tracie Van Dina at 631-286-9090. We
would love to hear from you!

5th Annual "Beach Ball" Fundraiser
The
Beach Ball - the 5th Annual Summer Benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of
the Bellport Area was held recently at the Bellport home of Rona and Ian
McKechnie. Over 400 guests enjoyed the sounds of the Boys & Girls Club
Steel Drum Band while dining on an assortment of Balinese foods during a
beautiful evening designed as a “South Seas Getaway” by the bay. They
were entertained by watching the world champion Boys & Girls Club Double
Dutch team and later danced the night away with DJ Max Salpetrier.
Attendees
participated in both a silent and live auction of antiques, designer
items, fine art, jewelry, in addition to bidding on the Boys & Girls
Club’s New Vista Programs. Over 90 percent of the $165,000 raised will
support Club activities including the New Vista Programs which bring an
array of cultural and educational opportunities to the youth of the Boys
& Girls Club that they may not typically experience.
The programs include a trip to the
Museum of Natural History, attending performances at the Gateway
Theater, dance lessons from an Alvin Ailey instructor, and a day at the
Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk.
“It
was truly a magical as well as heartwarming evening seeing the wonderful
connection between the guests the club members who participated”
exclaimed Beach Ball Chair Ted Kamoutsis. “I would especially like to
thank the committee members, volunteers, staff, and club members who
with their talents and effort made this year’s event an amazing
success.” An award of distinction was presented to Mr. Kamoutsis from
Boys & Club members honoring his years of service and dedication to the
club.
